When you run a marathon or a half marathon, most runners take a few days off to rest and relax. We put our bodies through a lot during training, so the rest is very important. The time after a hard race is known as recovery. And the amount of time that you take off depends on a variety of factors.
Some experts will say you should take off one day for each mile you run- so 26 days for a marathon, 13 days for a half marathon. But let’s be honest, for so many runners, taking that amount of time off is not possible mostly because we love to run, and we do so for our health/mental health. But remember, it is important to take the time off to allow your body the time it needs to recover. So how long do you like to take off after a hard race?
