One of the best ways to improve your running is to incorporate strength training into your weekly routine. Longer runs, incorporating speed workouts, running hills or stairs are important of course but building muscle strength will improve your mobility and flexibility, lower your risk of injury and improve your running. And you don’t have to become a gym rat. I prefer body-weight exercises that I can do at home. Planking is my favourite and while they may not get me ripped, they will get me stronger. And that improves my running! One really good strength training routing is this 9 minute workout: The 9 minute strength workout.
Include speed workouts, strength training, rest and healthier eating to improve your running. And as a bonus, you’ll be healthier overall.
Until next time…
