DO TRY the Rasta Pasta at theJHTA Negril’s World’s Best Pasta Party held at the Couples Swept Away Sporting Complex on Friday from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. You’ll get to mingle with runners from over 30 countries and hear the award-winning Silver Bird Steel Band – plus a few surprises in store. The pasta party is FREE for runners with arm bands and US$15 or J$1,500 for all others.
Road Rules Apply
DO OBEY the road rules. The race route from Negril Roundabout (south) to Club Riu/Salt Creek Bridge (north) becomes a runners’ freeway from the 4:00am to 12 noon. Once closed to vehicular traffic, only FREE Reggae shuttles will operate to take runners, spectators and hotel staff along Norman Manley Boulevard. For more info about the shuttles, stop by the Info Desk at Registration and click here.
Split Second Timing
DO GET to the Start on time. The Reggae Marathon is a study in timing perfection by starting within seconds of the5:15am start time. Have a good night’s sleep and arrive at Long Bay Beach Park before4:30am, drop off your bag at the Bag Hut, make some new friends, loosen up with some Reggae music and be ready to run at the sound of the horn at 5:15am.
Take A Dip
DO BRING your kit. The righteous way to end the Reggae Marathon and revel in your ‘runcation’ is to leap into the Caribbean Sea. Bring a towel and whatever you’ll need to hang at the Finish Line Beach Bash that begins at7:00am. Bag check is located at The Bag Hut in the Athletes Area. Please do not check any valuables, as we are not responsible for lost or damaged items.
DO POSITION yourself in the start chute according to your pace and ability. The start area does not leave a lot of room for passing those who started in the wrong place. If you’re not a sub-7 minute runner, keep to the rear and allow the more fleet-of-foot to take the lead. Remember that with MyLaps® chip timing your personal race time starts when you cross the start mat.
It’s Easy To Be Green
We aim to recycle 100% of the thousands of Catherine’s Peak water bottles used to keep you hydrated at Reggae Marathon. Please use the specially marked recycle bins that are manned by our hardworking Green Team who will be positioned at the Pasta Party and Finish Line.
