You know that pre-race feeling? In close quarters, butterflies in your stomach, anxiously chatting with your friends waiting for the starter’s gun. I still get them no matter that I’ve raced in more events than I can remember. At Reggae Marathon take that feeling and multiply by 100! Oh, and add that it’s 5:00 am on a Saturday morning and your’re milling around on the road in Negril waiting for Reggae Marathon Race Director, Frano to send you off promptly at 5:15 am. That’s the feeling Holly Minter and her running friends are experiencing in the photo above before the start of Reggae Marathon.
Then there is the post-Reggae Marathon celebration ritual: fully clothed in running gear swim in the Caribbean Sea steps from the Finish Line. One year I even forgot to take off my running shoes first. Thankfully that pair were on their last legs…they didn’t survive the dunking in the Sea. Rhonda Butler in the photo below shows how to celebrate right…she’s confirmed for Reggae Marathon 2014!
Pack a towel. You’ll need it after splashing in the Sea after Reggae Marathon. If you have a photo either before or after Reggae Marathon we’d love to see it. Post on our Facebook page: Reggae Marathon Facebook.
Until next time…
