Hailing from…Kingston, Jamaica, meet Jewel! Walker and runner, she had her first experience at Reggae Marathon in 2014, fell for it and is now a regular.
“I’ve been runing and walking on and off for around 4 years. I got interested in running/walking because my sister runs and represents her workplace. I would walk/ jog for stress relief ever since I was an undergrad at UWI.
I was introduced to the Reggae Marathon by My sister Carey-Anne. She participates in 1/2 marathons & 10K’s all the time. I would tag along and cheer her on. The first Reggae Marathon that I actually participated in was December 2014. I did the 10K. I kept going to support my sister and then fell in love with the camaraderie that running brings. All kinds of people were running /walking young, old, quick , slow… every one cheered you on. I loved that️
I’m not much of a runner, I prefer walking. I love to run/ walk my own race. Run/walking clears your mind as you focus on taking that next step. It is a celebration of what your body was designed to do and it is extremely humbling to push past your limits successfully.
I think this Reggae Marathon race is beautiful ! It’s something that everyone especially Jamaicans should experience at least once in their life. Reggae Marathon is definitely the physical demonstration of ‘one love’!”
Couldn’t have said it better, Ruby! Thanks for sharing your experience…we look forward to seeing you again this December 2 in Negril!
Until next time…
